I developed my PhD thesis at the Universidad de La Rioja, studying olefin metathesis reactions. Afterwards I have obtained a wide postdoctoral experience in the groups of Prof. Alcarazo (Max Planck Institut fur Kohlenforschung), Prof. Echavarren (ICIQ) and Prof. P. Pérez (University of Huelva) developing projects of catalysis, synthesis of natural products and functionalization of C-H bonds. The results of my research are collected in more than twenty publications, most of them in high impact journals (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (5), J. Am. Chem. Soc. (2), Chem. Eur. J. (2), Org. Lett (2)).
In 2018 I joined the Universidad de Alcalá and my lines of research are focused on organometallic catalysis and synthesis of organoboron and organofluorinated compounds.

Ph.D. in Chemistry, he has extensive experience as a researcher and teacher in the area of Organic Chemistry. He has worked in different universities and research centres in Spain, USA, Germany, Mexico and United Kingdom and is currently Associate Professor in the Department of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry at the Universidad de Alcalá. His research activity is directed both to the search for new methodologies for the synthesis of nitrogenous heterocycles and to the obtaining and evaluation of compounds with applications in medicinal chemistry. Specifically, his research lines cover the chemistry and applications of BN-arenes, heteroaromatic cations and polycyclic azo dyes, the search for new synthetic methodologies based on the use of isonitriles and the development of biologically active compounds against targets involved in renal disease.
He has also developed various activities related to the social communication of science. Thus, he has collaborated with several media (Jot Down, Mètode, Naukas, Principia, The Conversation, Diario La Rioja) and published the book “Drogas, Fármacos y Venenos” (editorial Almuzara).
